Your coverage options
Understand your choices.
Every type of coverage serves a different purpose. Start with the basics, then we'll talk through the details that matter to your situation.
Term life
Coverage for a set period, often 10, 20, or 30 years. A straightforward way to help protect a family through the years of a mortgage or raising children.
02Whole life
Permanent protection with level premiums and guaranteed cash value under the policy’s terms. Designed for needs that continue beyond a fixed term.
03Indexed universal life
Permanent coverage with flexible premiums and interest crediting tied to an index. Caps, policy charges, and ongoing funding deserve a careful review.
A simple place to start
A conversation. A clearer picture.
Whether you're starting fresh or reviewing a policy you already have, the first step is a complimentary review. No pressure, and no purchase required.
Thirty minutes
On the phone, or in person if you'd rather. You talk, I take notes. Nothing to prepare.
I read the policy
Including the group coverage from work, which is where most of the surprises live.
A written summary
What you own, what it covers, and the two or three choices in front of you. Yours to keep either way.
I have coverage through work. Is that enough?
Sometimes. Group coverage is usually one or two times salary, which rarely covers a mortgage and the years of income behind it.
The bigger issue is that it belongs to the job, not to you. It ends when the job does, and it ends at the age you're most likely to need it. Bring the summary to the review and we'll read what it actually says.
How much coverage is enough?
The rough version: replace the income your household would lose, add what it would cost to clear the mortgage and any other debt, and add anything you've promised — college, a parent you help support.
The real answer depends on what the survivor's life would actually look like, which is a thirty-minute conversation, not a calculator.
Do I have to take a medical exam?
Often not. Accelerated underwriting has become common, and for many healthy applicants a carrier will make a decision from prescription and motor-vehicle records alone.
If an exam is required, a paramedical comes to your house — height, weight, blood, urine — and it takes about twenty minutes.
How do you get paid?
Commission from the carrier on issued policies, which is the standard arrangement in this business. The review costs nothing, and going through me doesn't add anything to your premium — the rate is the carrier's filed rate either way.
I'd rather you hear that from me at the start than wonder about it later.
